Here is the Pinterest application for Samsung Galaxy Tab (android version) which had huge success in Android Market.
If you’re travelling with Virgin Australia in the near future and you find yourself in business class, you’ll more than likely be offered a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to consume media content on during the flight. The devices will also be available on select flight that have a duration exceeding 3 hours (think Melbourne -> Perth) for economy class travellers as well — for an extra cost, of course. That pricing hasn’t been announced just yet, but Virgin is assuring everyone pricing will be cleared up before full-on launch. Each tablet will have a range of content already loaded onto it, and Virgin are working on installing Lufthansa BoardConnect wireless streaming to certain planes so that even more content can be consumed over Wi-Fi. Virgin will have the tablets available for rent on their Airbus 330s and Boeing 737-600s within in the next 12-18 months. It looks like flying just far more appetising on Virgin.
Samsung has confirmed that the new Galaxy S3 will be launched on May 3 at Earls Court, London - will it be your next Galaxy smartphone though?.
Of course, this is not the final design of the device at all, which is very obvious, with notes and tape all over the device. But, the leak, if true, does give us some useful insight into what Samsung is hoping to achieve with its next flagship device:
It features Android 4.0 with a TouchWiz layering
The prototype suggests that Samsung is looking to include a physical home button (as previous leaks have suggested)
The above device features the Android 4.0-recommended virtual buttons
The position of the virtual menu keys have been switched around, with the recent apps moving to the left and the back button shifting to the right
The “Twonky Server” app features an additional virtual button (seen above), which might suggest that Samsung isn’t happy with in-app menu options
Quad-core Exynos power: Amidst a slew of prototype leaks and benchmark app revelations, Samsung has finally decided to offer up something official about the upcoming Galaxy S3. Although some sources had pegged a dual-core chip as its powerplant, Samsung now says that the quad-core Exynos 4212 will drive the company’s next hero phone. All that’s left to be revealed is the clock speed — 1.4GHz has been previously tipped, but we won’t know the whole truth until Samsung Mobile Unpacked next month.
The new 1.4GHz quad-core SoC is built on 32-nanometer architecture, and Samsung says the chipset will offer significant performance improvements over its previous-generation Exynos processor while consuming 20% less power. “The quad-core processor offers phenomenal multitasking abilities surpassing any single or dual application processor,” Samsung’s VP of System LSI marketing Taehoon Kim said. “Since all the cores must share a single battery, the power management and efficiency in the limited battery capacity are indispensable for mobile computing devices. Given the diverse functionalities consumers are demanding from their mobile devices today, the Exynos 4 Quad meets those high-performance needs while keeping power consumption very low.” Samsung’s full press release follows below.
Samsung Galaxy S3 operating system : Samsung is already releasing test versions of an Android 4.0 update for the Galaxy S 2, the S 3 is all but guaranteed to arrive with a version of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich release. Samsung's TouchWiz user interface skin layered are expected.
Memory : will be 1GB RAM, 16GB SD
S3 display : S3 would feature a 4.6" screen
S3 camera: expect to 12MP camera
Price: Obviously we don't have pricing details for an unannounced phone, so all we can do is speculate. Given the recent launch of the Galaxy Nexus, which sold for an enormous £520 around its launch and for the following few weeks and was available on contracts starting at £36, that's the high-end level we expect of the S 3.
How many wireless devices do you use in one day? From your cellphone to laptop to wireless to Bluetooth headset, you depend on these devices to work reliably, but do you know their limitations? Depending on the device's radio, the maximum range could be a few feet to several miles. In the wireless world, we define this maximum range, not as the point at which the device stops sending or receiving, but the distance at which the radio receives data at 25% its typical amount. For all of the standards listed below, range is considered direct line of sight without physical obstructions. Mountains, trees, and buildings greatly degrade the range, which present challenges for cell phone service providers.
Service providers have many options for providing wireless signal. For instance, Verizon and Sprint use the CDMA and LTE standards. AT&T, T-Mobile, and most international service providers use the GSM standards. Regarding peak download and upload speeds, both CDMA and GSM are well matched. For a cell phone to connect to both CDMA and GSM, two radios are required, since the standards are not compatible with one another. Within a standard, the rule of thumb is that newer revisions are backwards compatible with older revision. Other faster, short range standards, like Wi-Fi are shown to give a basis for comparison.
This is the first in the series of code snippet blog posts!
I'm going to be trying to follow a standard format for all the code snippet blog posts but that may change over time.
Packages Used:
android.app.Activity - The activity class is one of the main classes in Android development. An activity represents a single screen with a user interface.
android.app.ActivityManager - Activity Managers interact with the activities in the app.
android.app.ActivityManager.RunningAppProcessInfo - Used to retrieve information about a running app.
android.net.TrafficStats - Used to retrieve network traffic statistics.
android.os.Bundle - Maps String values to Parcelable types.
android.os.Process - Contains tools to manage Android OS processes.
Class - AndroidDataOffenders:
The naming for this class is pretty hilarious since all the app does is display how much data each app is using. Therefore, the "Data Offenders" consists of all the apps running on the device. Overall, the app retrieves the phone's traffic statistics and then outputs every app's data usage.
Function - onCreate:
The onCreate function is called when the app is first created (i.e. when it's first ran).
The function first calls super on onCreate - it's pretty much a standard to perform this function for non-complex apps.
The function then creates an instance of TrafficStats to use it for retrieving the traffic statistics of the phone.
The next two lines seem a bit pointless to me... getMobileRxBytes() retrieves the total amount of bytes received while getTotalRxBytes() retrieves the total amount of bytes sent. The reason why I think it's pointless is that these numbers are never stored in any variable or used in the future. As far as I know, these don't have a dual purpose as initialization functions.
The two lines after simple retrieves the user ID for the device and creates an instance of ActivityManager used to retrieve the running apps later on.
After that, everything is ready to find the data usage. For every running process, it retrieves it's RunningAppProcessInfo. Every process info has a processName as well as a UID. The processName is displayed and the UID of the process is used to get the total bytes used for that particular UID.
After everything is displayed, the app sets the view to the main view for the app which just says "Hello".
Conclusion
In conclusion, this app shows how simple it is to retrieve data usage in the Android system. Diving in to this piece of code allowed me to gain more insight on developing an app that deals with data usage on Android devices.
Fruit Ninja is an addictive game from Halfbrick Studios and is a smashing hit on the iOS and Android platforms. The simple idea of slicing fruits turned out to be a great success, and Fruit Ninja can be counted as one of the best and up-put-down-able games ever made for a mobile, or, a Tablet! Although it seems that Fruit Ninja is not released for the Galaxy Tab P1000 on the Android Market, there is absolutely no need to worry. The best and the only alternative way is to have Applanet installed in your Tab. Here’s how
Fruit Ninja is a game for all ages. Weather its a 2 year old kid or a very old man, Fruit Ninja is very easy to operate. Slice fruits, that’s it? Not really. You can play on an Arcade mode and make a highscore depending on how many fruits you sliced before you missed three, or sliced a bomb! Its mainly based on your reaction time, starting from when you see a fruit and slice it before it goes back, or when you see a bomb and have enough sense to leave it without a scratch.
Other modes include Time and Dojo etc in which you see how many you can slice before the time runs out. There is also an online scoreboard, so its not that easy to be the best. It takes an attentive mind and a practised blade, err finger, to make you the number one Fruiter!
As I have a 7 inch screen, the graphics tend to be a little on the bad side, and because of the bigger display, seem sort of stretched out. The thing I love about Fruit Ninja is that everything in the game is controlled by your blade. It moves wherever your finger does, and of course, with the help of multi-touch support, you can have as many blades as you like on the screen. Even the Option Menu has something to be sliced before the game starts! After you play the game for a while, you’ll be able to unlock new kinds of blades of different shapes, colors and sizes.
What makes it so addictive is the temptation and determination to beat your last highscore, making Fruit Ninja a must have for the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Here is an official arcade mode trailer video:
To download Fruit Ninja, first get Applanet and then search in it for Fruit Ninja. Download the 10mb file, install, and enjoy!

A mob of fun-loving zombies is about to invade our Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy 3, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Player or any device with Android 2.1 or higher. Plants Vs Zombies arrive from Amazon for free, just today. Tomorrow will have its normal price is 2 euros ($2.99).
Use your arsenal of 49 zombie-zapping plants — peashooters, wall-nuts, cherry bombs and more — to mulchify 26 types of zombies before they break down your door.
Amazon appstore announced a free game download today via mail. It is actually a paid game but Amazon has given the opportunity for its app store users to try the game for limited time for FREE. I jumped on to the galaxy tab and tried out Plants VS Zombies. The initial verdict is it is a fun game. No noticeable glitches. And the 7inch galaxy tab screen provides a really cool gaming experience. So, without further delay, here is the Plants Vs Zombies review.
Plants Vs Zombies . Game story
Zombies are attacking your house and the only way to defend them is by planting different attacking plants on your lawn. There are different types of zombies and there are different kinds of plants. If a zombie breaches the last line of plant defense and reach your house, they will EAT YOUR BRAIN. So, basically, you have to plant plants strategically and defend the house from the zombie. We need sunlight to plant trees and zombies can attack during day or night. In the night we have special mushrooms to give us sunlight along with the sunflower plant. You have to find a balance between planting enough sunlight producing plants and attacking plants.
Game Intro screen
The graphics is good and game is more like a strategy – Adventure game. It has all the ingredients to make it an addictive game. I have played around 12 levels and if I didn’t have to write this review, I would have continued playing. The game loads without much delay. You have to enter the adventure area first by clicking the adventure button on the toomb stone.
Plants vs Zombies a walkthrough
The game starts with a learner level where instructions are given about how to defend the house from zombies. Initially during the first level, the lawn will be very narrow and there will be only one zombie approaching the house. But as game progresses, the lawn becomes larger and larger.
After completing each level, a new plant is awarded which has got some special purpose. Also notice the lawn mover at the end of the lawn just before the house entrance. If due to some reason, a zombie eats all the plants and reaches the end of the lawn, then the lawn mover will kill the first zombie. It is only one time for one column of lawn. After that the next zombie which reaches the end of the lawn will enter the house and eat your brain .
As shown in the image above, after the first level in which you have to defend the zombie with pea spitting plants, you will get a sunflower which will give you sun (shown as 150 in the above image). Each plant requires a certain amount of sunlight so that we can plant it. So sunlight from the sunflowers is one of the most crucial element in the game.
As shown in the above picture, after getting a new plant, the app will tell you the significance of that plant. As the game progresses, you will get other tools like a shovel with which you can remove a planted plant to make space for another plant. You will also have a crazy neighbor that speaks gibberish who will sell you tools for cash you collect from the lawn by killing the zombies.
You have to think on your feet and adapt to different fleets of zombies while playing the game. The key is finding the right balance between attack, defense and finance. The above image shows a stage which was played at night where there is little sunlight. So we have to initially invest heavily on the mushrooms and sun flowers. Then slowly ramp up the attack.
Here is the gallery I have collected. Each image is pretty self explanatory.
Plants vs Zombies review. End veridict
It is a pretty cool game. I think you should give it a try if you like mild strategy games. I have only played the initial levels. So no idea, what is in store in the higher levels. I am sure that there was lot of thought put into planning the levels to make a better engaging user experience. I will give it a 7.5/10
Today I got a mail from amazon saying that the paid game Plants Vs Zombies can be downloaded for free for today. You need to first install the amazon app store in order to install this game. You need to go to settings ==> applications and check (turn on) the “unknown sources” before you install amazon app store app. Once you have done that, the installation process is simple which I will mention in another post. So, what are you waiting for? If you do not have the amazon app store android app already installed in your galaxy tab or android phone, you can head to this link and download amazon app store. You will get a paid app to try out for a few days for absolutely free. You need to have an amazon account for installing any new apps which are featured on amazon. here is the full review of Plants vs Zombies android game

Amazon app store app
Once you install amazon app store, it is just a matter of visiting the app store and checking what is the daily free download available for that day. I have played the game and I will write a detailed review on the same soon enough. But don’t wait for the review. Head to amazon website and download the amazon appstore app and take advantage of the free apps which you get daily. You will be asked for the credit card information and an order will be place. Don’t panic. Nothing will be deducted from your card. The order will be placed for $0.00.

There is this amazingly simple yet addicting game called Draw Something . Heard of it? Being a huge sensation and already downloaded over 10 million times on Android, and 50 million in total I have a feeling you have. Today they’ve pushed a large update bringing some improvements and features users have been begging for. Check below for full details on the awesome new update and get ready to draw.
First off and one of the most requested features was comments. Just like Words with Friends you can now post comments and chat with players while you draw. Laugh about how terrible your drawing skills are, just don’t give any hints. Then OMGPOP included a one-click undo last move button, so you can easily erase an entire stroke or line, without trying to be precise with the eraser.
That isn’t all either. We now have pull to refresh where you simply slide down just like Facebook, Twitter and other apps to instantly refresh the game, and they’ve also included push notifications. This way you’ll know it’s your turn instantly — not just when you launch the game. Sadly it isn’t all good news though. Obviously the free version has some sort of ads included, but after this update I’ve been greeted with long, 10 second video ads for Verizon and other things since updating. That is a bummer but then again that’s why we have a paid version too.
The new changes are awesome and you can enjoy them right now by hitting the download link below.

The rising giant of the casual gaming world, Zynga, has recently acquired OMGPOP, the struggling game developer behind the hugely popular Draw Something game for Android and iOS. Now, it seems that Zynga is hard at work whipping Draw Something into even better form, to ensure that the Pictionary-style game maintains its momentum.
Just days after the $180 million acquisition was announced, we found out that a huge update to Draw Something is coming, one that has the game’s legions of fans very excited. And for good reason – the upcoming features will give the game some much needed polish. If you got an email yesterday from Zynga/OMGPOP, you probably already know about these changes, but just in case you didn’t, here’s the gist of it.
Draw Something: New Features & Changes
As you probably know, Zynga is laser-focused on the social side, more precisely, on building communities around its casual game titles. So, a lot of the new features that will be added to Draw Something reflect Zynga’s social obsession, although quite a few are based on popular demand. Here are the changes:
Drawings can now be shared via Facebook or Twitter. This is an update that is mostly aimed at iOS users, but Android fans will welcome it as well.
You’ll be able to save your drawings to your device’s photo library (a feature that was requested by many users). As of now, Draw Something doesn’t have a save option, meaning that your “masterpieces” are forever lost with each new round. Sure, you can take screenshots (which many people did), but not everyone can do this and not on every phone. The save drawing option is probably one of the best features that are being added into the game.
An Undo button is being added for your last brush stroke.
Additional words are being added (finally!)
Android devices will now get notifications (also a frequent fan request).
The max streak number will be set to 999.
Game speed and performance will be improved.
Like any game, Draw Something has some problems that require urgent fixing. The bug fixes will include:
Fixing a known bug that caused the game to crash.
Fixing display errors.
Fixing bugs that caused the bombs and coins to no longer display.
Where is Draw Something heading?
Draw Something is at the top of the Google Play Store games charts (well, Angry Birds Space took the first spot, but DS is still in top 3), holding for many weeks the first position in both free and paid app charts. The relatively small download makes the app easy to acquire and start playing. The sense of competitive play and the sharing of ideas between players really make the Draw Something experience enjoyable.
TheVerge
Zynga spent A LOT of money to buy the game from the OMGPOP, and you can be sure they want to get their money’s worth! There is no doubt that Zynga will keep improving and promoting Draw Something, but just what the future holds is uncertain. In just a few weeks, Draw Something may be a thing of the past. Or who knows – it may go on to achieve Angry Birds-level fame…
For now, lets focus on this big update that made many obsessive-compulsive scribblers so happy. What are your thoughts? Will you enjoy the game even more now?
