Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the setback
The Android tablets in 7-inch and 10.1-inch versions were due to go on sale in March but the month came and went with no hint of a launch. The Galaxy Tab 2s will now launch at the end of this month, according to Samsung. Samsung said the reason for the delay is that it, along with Google, needs more time to work on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
The firm would not give any further details. When it does tip up, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) will have a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a 1024 x 600 resolution touchscreen. The tablet will also have AllShare a feature which enables wireless sharing of content such as music and videos. Samsung is also having a tough time trying to upgrade its Galaxy S II smartphone.
The upgrade was supposed to rollout from 19 March but the firm said last week that it was "unable to confirm exact dates as the software testing and approval process is subject to several variables," Meanwhile the rumour mill is busy churning in regards to the upcoming Galaxy S3 which is yet to surface. For all the latest on this subject check out our Galaxy S III release date, specs and rumour round-up.
